Remembrance Day
Well - being Week
Our Autumn term topic ...
Alive & Kicking
This term we are finding out all about the human body as part of our ‘Alive and Kicking’ topic.
So far we have investigated the:
· Digestive system (by recreating one using a pair of tights, orange juice, biscuits and yoghurt - yuck!)
· The circulatory system by making models of the human heart and measuring our pulse rates after different exercises,
· The skeleton by recreating skeletons out of pasta,
· The brain - by making brain helmets.
We have been lucky to have been swimming for 2 weeks - all children have improved their confidence in the water, and most have improved their swimming.
Last week we commemorated Remembrance Day by finding out about the different poppies and doing lots of different artwork by using different mediums
We have played in the Keith Grice rugby festival, joining over 300 children at Porthcawl to play. We played against Mynydd Cynffig, Cwmfelin, St. Mary and St Patrick’s, Nottage, Croesty and Maes Y Haul. We didn’t win every game but played well in each one.
We are hoping to play more sports soon—rugby, netball and football against some of the schools in our valley.
On a Tuesday, Year 6 children stay behind after school and join in with the Goalgetters club, practising our football skills.
On Mondays, we will be staying after school for ’Superstars’ club, where we can practise the skills of drama - acting, singing and dancing.
For the first time in a long time - we shall be hosting our famous Christmas concert this year - Miss D from Superstars has cast the main parts and those people are now hard at work rehearsing ready for the big days. Click on the slideshow below to view a selection of work.
