We had a wonderful time on our trip to Plantasia. The children's behaviour was fantastic, we are very proud of them!
Picture
The children had the best time on their school trip, we walked around looking at all the plants and animals there.

The children then were able to hold some of the animals themselves and all discuss what they liked about the trip the most.

We have enjoyed completing Coronation themed activities this week in year 3. We all tasted the quiche at our coronation party. A big thumbs up from many children!

Continuing our learning about capacity we have been creating potions. We had to get the perfect measurements for the potion to work. Now we just need to find someone to turn into a frog!

April 2023
We have been practically exploring capacity. First we used non-standard measure and later moved onto ml.

We have been writing our own poems. Here we are reading a sentence out loud.
We have all been trying to become more confident when speaking in front of our friends.

We had good fun celebrating this special day. We started our day by joining the rest of the school in the hall to sing some songs.
We enjoyed sketching daffodils and love spoons. We wrote what we love about being Welsh and what we know about Wales. We tasted bara brith and took part in some creative activities.

We are ambitious, capable learners!

We complete a set of challenges independently each week.
We are now responsible for uploading a photograph to our class seesaw account of our work. Here are some photographs of recent literacy, numeracy and STEM challenges:

February 2023
We had some good old fashioned fun! As part of our new topic we have been comparing old and new toys. We played some old fashioned toys and games outdoors. We played hoop and stick, marbles, hopscotch and skipping.
January 2023
We have been focusing on Persuasion writing in Literacy, here we have started making posters in order to Persuade people to go places or buy things.. what do you think?
January 2023
Today we have been measuring natural materials that we found in the nature reserve. The longest twig was 35cm!
January 2023
We have been using Adobe Creative to create persuasive posters. We chose different clubs to advertise.
We all used adjectives and alliteration to persuade. Some of us used similes and rhetorical questions.
January 2023
We have been learning about sharing and grouping within maths. The children went outside and used natural materials to make division and multiplication sums.
January 2023
The children have been focusing on multiplication. They have been using practical materials and  the outdoors to consolidate their learning. Here they are using dough to create arrays in class. They have also been collecting natural materials to create arrays outdoors.
January 2023
We have been using our knowledge of sharing to complete some division questions.
January 2023
We have been using Kahoot to test our knowledge of Welsh words. We became very competitive!

The mad scientist!
Our new topic is the mad scientist. Throughout this topic we will have the opportunity to explore how different toys move. We will find out about the forces of 'push' and 'pull' and investigate the effect 'friction'.
We will also be comparing toys of past and present.
January 2023
More work focusing on Arrays in Maths, using counters to help us work things out.
January 2023
Together, as a class we discussed what we are thankful for. We used our ideas to create a class prayer together. We use this prayer to end our collective worship sessions.

Miss Thomas class prayer.
As a class we discussed what we wanted to be in our class prayer, and this is what we came up with.

Thank you for our families,
Thank you for our friends,
Thank you for the food we eat,
Let the kindness never end.
Amen.

October 2022
Well-being week was a big hit with the children. When asked for their opinion on how their wellbeing could be promoted, many children said drinking tea and eating biscuits! We started well-being week off with tea and biscuits in class. They were able to experience a range of activities throughout the week. This included Zumba, massage stories, singing with Mrs D, friendship bracelet making, nature walks, drawing and finally a stop at the spa! The children also 'broke the chain' of bullying in Caerau, where they broke a paper chain that ran the length of the school.

INFORMATION FOR YEAR 3:

We are extremely lucky to have lots of different things going on in our school.
- Mondays during school hours we have goal getters work with the class. Goal getters use football and sport as a tool to promote positive mental health and emotional wellbeing in children and young people.

- Thursdays after school we have superstars. This is run by Mrs D who is a subject specialist within the arts. Superstars aims to  help children learn, grow and shine, and give every child the opportunity to try something new, discover a new talent and develop lasting life skills.
