digital leaders
Welcome to Caerau Primary’s Digital leader page.  
The Digital Leaders were newly formed in March 2023.  The children had to apply for the position of Digital Leader and give examples of why they should be chosen and what digital skills they have.  As we have been very recently  formed we are in the beginning stages of planning what we would like to do and what training we need.  

We attend an after school club every Monday as well as occasional meetings during school time.

In one of our first meetings we sussed out how to use Microsoft Whiteboard. We discovered that we could all add to the document at the same time. We added suggestions of what we would like to do as part of our role as a digital leader. We also added images to the whiteboard.  This is a tool that we will share with our classes as it is very useful for sharing ideas and working together.
Meet our Mascot​
We designed our own mascot​ using a range of  different software or hand drawn. We come up with an idea and copied and pasted our work into a group discussion on Microsoft Whiteboard. Once we had all our ideas in one place, we added the work into Microsoft Forms. We created a voting system and the whole group are going to vote for their favourite design.

We are so lucky that we have VR headsets in our school.  We got to have a tinker with them to test out the software.  This was a first time using a VR headset for some of the digital leaders.  We look forward to finding more out about these and hosting some teaching sessions with our classes.

Weekly Plan

Marty the
Robot
We had lots of fun programming Marty the Robot to dance, move and kick a ball. We learned a lot about how to control the robot using MartyBlocks Jr and MartyBlocks (Very similar to Scratch and Scratch Jr). 

Coding with Scratch

We started using scratch to help build a simple game, we programmed the arrow keys to move the character left and right, also used the space bar to make the character jump. This will be the base of our platform game.
