Criw Cymraeg Caerau Primary School
Who are we?
We are the Criw Cymraeg of Caerau Primary School. We have two pupils from each year group from Year 1 to Year 6.
You will find us wearing a badge and lanyard with Welsh Phrases around the school.
Mr Goldsworthy is also a member of our Criw Cymraeg.
What do we do?
We like speaking welsh and want to help our friends speak welsh in school. We have the task of improving the use of the welsh Language in Caerau. We will encourage our friends and staff to use Welsh as often as possible. This could be in class, on the yard or even out in our community. We get together as a team to think of ways to improve using the Welsh Language.

Our Logo:
We created a logo for our Criw Cymraeg. We thought about it having our school badge, who we are and a large Welsh Dragon. We were very happy with our final idea.

As a Criw Cymraeg we have worked really hard throughout the year. We had a mini award ceremony and chose Honi as our 'Criw Cymraeg Gorau'.
The reasons for her being voted the best by the Criw were for: - Always there to speak Welsh and sell Welsh Cakes in our shop. - Always wearing her lanyard with Iaith Cards and Gemau Iard Cards on. - Always wears her Criw Cymraeg badge. - Made sure Arth made it to different classes. Da iawn ti! |
Dewch i Ddarllen
The Criw Cymraeg worked with Year 2 to read lots of stories. This is something they enjoyed and spoke about a lot in our Welsh Assemblies.
They chose the book and read to the children. Da iawn Criw Cymraeg o Blwyddyn 4, 5 a 6!

The Criw Cymraeg asked the pupils in Year 2 questions and helped them read new words.
The Criw Cymraeg had an idea to write their own Welsh stories and read them to younger pupils... something to think about Criw! |
GEMAU GWENER
Our breaktime club of 'Gemau Gwener' has really taken off this year. It has been great to see children take a break from the sun and sit in our seated area playing Welsh Games on iPads.
The Criw Cymraeg lead this and help teach the other children new Welsh words and phrases! Da iawn pawb!

Wal Graffiti
We turned our giant blackboard that was on the yard into our Welsh Wal Graffiti. We called the wall our 'Wal Cymraeg' and had pupils write and answer the 'Brawddeg y Wythnos' as well as share any other Welsh words and phrases they know.
The wall was organised by some members of the Criw Cymraeg!

HAF 2023 SUMMER 2023
During the summer term the Criw Cymraeg decided they wanted to sell Welsh Cakes.
This was a huge success back during our Wear Red for Velindre Day and the Criw worked hard to sell welsh cakes to raise money again for charity.
Pupils could only buy a Welsh Cake if they could answer in welsh.
The chosen question of choice from the Criw Cymraeg was...
Wyt ti eisiau Cacen Cymraeg?

Proud to be Welsh
During a PS3 Assembly some of our older Criw Cymraeg members did a presentation to the school. They were super brave to say what being welsh meant to them.
They ended the assembly by handing out our new 'Siaradwr Cymraeg Gwych' certificates. The Criw Cymraeg will hand these out every week.

Criw Cymraeg Hoodies
We bought hoodies in a Welsh Red Colour so that we could stand out around school and promote the use of speaking in Welsh. We also wear them when we are in our Criw Cymraeg Siop and encourage pupils to talk to us in welsh to buy things!

November 2022: Ni Yma O Hyd
We decided to show our support for the Welsh Football Team for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar by writing a letter to them. We each wrote a simple sentence on a whiteboard before putting them all together into a letter and placing it in a card. We decorated the card with players from the squad. Pob Lwc Cymru!

CROESO Poster Competition
Da iawn to Isla J in Year 6. We wanted a poster to display around the school to welcome visitors, staff and children into our school and class. The Criw Cymraeg picked a poster from a select 6 that would welcome anyone into our school. It was a tough choice to pick only one from the many posters we had from Year 4, 5 and 6 pupils.
