Meet the team!
​Mr Cousins, Miss Cousins, Miss Williams, ​Mrs Jenkins & Mr James.
​In our class we focus predominantly on developing our social and emotional skills, building resilience and self-regulation strategies, whilst also providing access to all areas of the curriculum.
​Our typical day in the Rainforest Class follows a very structured and familiar routine. 
​Here is an example of our daily timetable:

Nature Detectives!
​Summer Term
Throughout our topic we will have plenty of opportunities to explore the outdoor environment. We will take part in minibeast hunts and learn interesting facts about the creatures we find. We will find out about the important role bees have, as well as growing a range of different plants and flowers.

We have a new class pet - Meet Steve the Snail!!
We carried out some online research about caterpillars. We created a fact file of interesting facts using Seesaw.
We have completed a range of minibeast arts and crafts activities.
We created symmetrical butterflies, 3D life cycles and use our Minecraft skills to build bugs.
Outdoor Learning
Each week we will take part in an outdoor learning activity at the nature reserve.

Easter Activities
We listened to the Easter story. We sequenced images and wrote the story in our books. We then used an animation app on the iPads to retell the story.
From Farm to Plate
During the week beginning 27th March, we had the opportunity to choose what we were going to learn about. After several discussions, we narrowed our ideas down to "From Farm to Plate". Throughout the week we found out where different food originates from, as well as foods which are farmed. We carried out LOTS food related activities and joined in with daily cooking activities.

​Spring Term
Throughout our topic we will have the opportunity to explore how different toys move. We will find out about the forces of 'push' and 'pull' and investigate the effect 'friction'. 
We will continue our exploration of toys by investigating and trying out toys that use electricity and magnetism. We will also research and try a range of toys and games from around the world!

World Book Day
Our theme for this year's World Book Day was "Bedtime Stories"
We wore our pyjamas to school and talked about our favourite stories.
We visited Miss White's and Mr Goldsworthy's class to read them a story.
We also create book markers using a range of craft materials and drew a new book cover design for our favourite book.
